June Plums are native to tropical and subtropical equatorial regions of Melanesia through Polynesia but have been introduced to tropical areas throughout the world. The fruit has a large, oval shape, thick skin, and tropical bouquet of flavors and aromas it permeates when harvested. When the skin eventually ripens from lime green to hues of rose and orange with the sweet tangy flavors of pineapple, mango, and apple. These fruits make a refreshing drink, jam, chutney, sauce and is also great served with meat and seafood. In some cultures, they are stewed and eaten as a vegetable.
